Honing

Honing is simply a more aggressive form of polishing. This process uses lower grit diamond pads than those used for polishing, which allows for the removal of moderate scratches and etches. Honing is usually followed by polishing unless you desire a “rougher” finish.

Grinding

Grinding is the most aggressive method for refinishing a stone surface. This process is used to remove deep scratches and dents, and also to address lippage (unevenness) between stone tiles. Grinding is always followed by honing.
